You say your school district didn’t shut down today? This could be why.

Back sometime in the 1990’s an extremely reliable source employed by a major public school district in Wisconsin informed me the basis which school officials used to determine whether to cancel a school day.

Was it:

A) Temperature

B)  Wind chill factor

C) A combination of A and B

D) Teachers and staff had difficulty getting to work

E) The superintendent felt sorry for the kids

F) Other


Closing school has nothing to do with meteorology or how cruel Mother Nature is on a particular day.

Deciding to close doesn’t require a conference call with multiple participants.

There is no magical manual to consult.

The answer is rather simple.

Can the busses start? If so, the school doors are open.
