Incumbent Franklin Mayor Steve Olson scored a resounding victory over challenger Basil Ryan in the spring election. When the votes were counted Monday Olson captured 6,237 votes. Ryan had 4,653. Olson’s winning margin was 1,584 votes.
Olson also defeated Ryan in the 2017 mayoral race, 3,132 to 2,649. Olson more than tripled his victory margin from 2017 to 2020.
This marks the 3rd consecutive election Olson has defeated Ryan who ran as a write-in candidate in 2014.
Ryan’s act is getting tired. What part of ‘no’ doesn’t he understand? The majority of voters, and plenty of them, doesn’t want him running our city.
You’ll note the 2020 mayoral totals were a lot bigger than 2017. Voter turnout this April in Franklin was over 54% as opposed to about 25% in April 2017.
We are stuck with the same do-nothing mayor once again. No reduction in Franklin property taxes will continue. Continued oblivion to getting the state to reduce blasting levels at the quarry. More bloviating and back slapping with no results. Let the clown carnival in Franklin begin!
