Friday Night Forgotten Oldie: $$$$$$

If you thought today was Income Tax Deadline Day….WRONG!

Tax Day this year is on April 18?

It’s because the Internal Revenue Service’s District of Columbia offices will be closed on Friday, April 15, in observance of the locally recognized Emancipation Day.

So, a bit of a reprieve for many. Still, the simple evil truth is:

If not today then come Monday a certain tune will no doubt be heard or top of mind, and rightfully so.

“But those who want to be rich fall into temptation, a trap, and many foolish and harmful desires, which plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root[of all kinds of evil, and by craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”
The Bible, 1 Timothy 6:9-11

This week’s oldie is a warning from 1973 about the unsavory dollar and what people will do for it.

Later it became the theme song of the NBC reality series “The Apprentice” that went on the air in 2004 and ran until 2015, when the star of the show, Donald Trump, ran for president. In 2017 NBC rebooted the series, this time as “The Celebrity Apprentice” with Arnold Schwarzenegger that also used the same theme.

The single peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

On Record Store Day, June 18th, Creedence Clearwater Revival will release a long-lost 1970 recording of “Travelin’ Band” taken during the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers’ appearance at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Also on the release, “Who’ll Stop the Rain” recorded at the Oakland Coliseum from the platinum-selling live album, The Concert.

Only 9,000 copies of the recording on a special 7-inch pressing will be available.
