Reasons I’m voting for Rebecca Kleefisch on August 9, #28: Free speech for students

In a country where liberal professors outnumber conservatives by 17 to 1, where student activists shout down or even physically assault conservative speakers, where students vandalize and tear down historic monuments, where elite colleges such as Yale School of Medicine welcome lecturers who share fantasies of guiltlessly murdering and burying white people, and where university administrators are the tip of the spear for advancing progressive social agendas, by what standard are conservatives the ones waging a war on campuses?
John A. Burtka IV is the president and CEO of the Intercollegiate Studies Institute

“Young America’s Foundation’s 30th annual Commencement Speakers Survey found that just three conservatives were invited to give commencement addresses at the top 100 schools as ranked by U.S. News and World Report: Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow and Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Greece’s prime minister.

“Meanwhile, 53 liberals imparted their ‘wisdom’ to the graduating class of 2022. From advocating for ‘social justice’ movements like Black Lives Matter to warning grads about the danger of guns, these speakers clearly used their platforms to push their own agendas.”
The NY Post, June 9, 2022

Rebecca believes schools and universities need to show more respect for free speech. They need to resurrect their once proud reputation as facilitators of the marketplace of ideas. Students should not be regulated by biased or bullying systems. Speakers should not be canceled when someone complains.
