On Wednesday the Franklin School Board at its regularly scheduled meeting will vote to hire a new school district administrator to replace the retiring Judy Mueller. A selection has been made but has not been announced publically. One of the three finalists for the job was Burlington Area School District Superintendent Stephen Plank.
To say the least the Burlington district under Plank’s leadership has been troubled.
On Monday (last night) the Burlington school board met and spent time hearing a presentation on school district library policies by Assistant Superintendent Jill Oeslager and two school district librarians.
Let’s pick up the meeting where Oselager mentions “intellectual freedom.” Her remarks got a frosty reception from the audience. Please click WATCH ON YOU TUBE and scroll to the 40:18 mark
Observe. We will talk to you. You will not talk to us. There will be no dialogue.
“Intellectual freedom.”
As one Burlington resident put it, “Intellectual Freedom” is the schools “right” to expose our children to whatever filthy, sexually explicit, profanity filled trash they want to.

A recess was taken and when the meeting resumed the presentation was concluded. Some one in the audience wrote on Facebook that as the two librarians left the board room “one of the librarians” could be heard talking to the other and “called parents concerned about graphic content in books ‘disgusting’.”
Of course that’s hearsay. It was not said on the meeting record. But do I believe it happened? You bet I do.
A common question in instances like this is, “What can I (we) do about this?”
From my blog earlier this year. Click for recommended reading on the answer.
You need to proofread. “Publically?” “Some one?” Award winning writing right there.

And I totally apologize for the egregious space between some and one. OMG.
Now, Grandma, do you have any insightful comment on the topic at hand or are you just playing GOTCHA?
