QUOTES OF THE WEEK

“I have directly responded to the Academy’s disciplinary hearing notice, and I will fully accept any and all consequences for my conduct. My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful, and inexcusable. The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home. I betrayed the trust of the Academy. I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. I am heartbroken. I want to put the focus back on those who deserve attention for their achievements and allow the Academy to get back to the incredible work it does to support creativity and artistry in film. So, I am resigning from membership in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and will accept any further consequences the Board deems appropriate.”
Less than a week after he slapped fellow actor Chris Rock during Sunday’s Oscars ceremony, Will Smith has resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. Jokes at my expense are part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be.”
Will Smith apologized to Chris Rock on Monday for slapping the comedian at Sunday night’s Oscars ceremony. Smith strode on stage and struck Rock in the face after the comedian made a joke about the appearance of Smith’s wife. Rock, in a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith, had referenced the 1997 film “G.I. Jane” in which actress Demi Moore shaved her head. It was unclear whether Rock was aware that Smith’s wife has a disease that causes hair loss.

“This is the first time I’ve ever seen the media cover black-on-black crime so I’m actually quite surprised by this. If Mel Gibson had done this, Nancy Pelosi would be kneeling in the Capitol right now. He would’ve been the only guy not being allowed out on bail in LA County.”
Jesse Watter

“The liberals in charge of Hollywood will soon be requiring movie producers to employ minimum numbers of people of color or members of the LGBTQ community before their films can even be eligible to be voted on by Academy members for an Oscar.

“In other words, it’s not going to be the quality of your film or the great acting or directing that wins you honors. It’s going to be making sure your movie meets the required color, gender, and sexual-orientation quotas.

“And this week a video emerged of a Disney executive producer boasting that she has been pushing a ‘not-at-all-secret gay agenda’ for children’s animation.

“It’s a sad day in America that this is how low we  and Hollywood have gone.

“I’m just glad my parents are dead so they don’t have to watch what has happened to the movie industry they loved.”
Michael Reagan, the eldest son of President Reagan

“I might be old-fashioned, but I don’t think large corporations, teachers unions, and political activists should be talking about sexuality with kindergartners — for any reason.”
Christopher F. Rufo

“Normal adults don’t tell kids to keep secrets from their parents. Normal adults have no inclination to talk to 5-9 year olds, who are not their children, about sex and gender switching. Perverts and predators do.”
Allie Beth Stuckey

“Disney publicly thanked the Chinese Communist Party officials running concentration camps in Xinjiang. And now Disney is lecturing parents about what’s appropriate to teach kindergarteners? What a joke.”
Senator Tom Cotton

“The US attorney in Delaware has had this case for a long time. Anybody else in this country, we would have seen these indictments probably before the election.”
Ex-Utah US Attorney Brett Tolman said Hunter Biden would likely have been indicted before the 2020 presidential election if he were “anybody else,” after a report said a probe into the first son’s overseas business dealings was far from over.

“Now that the NYT and WP have belatedly reported that the emails on Hunter’s laptop are (and always have been) legitimate, when will we see stories about ‘10% to the Big Guy’? … This story is not over. It’s just beginning.”
Ari Fleischer

“Budgets are statements of values, and the [$5.8 trillion] budget I am releasing today sends a clear message that we value fiscal responsibility.”
Joe Biden

“President Joe Biden unveiled a $5.8 trillion budget proposal for 2023 with a record increase in taxes. The 2023 budget would spend billions of dollars on security programs in Europe and Ukraine while also allocating $773 billion to the Pentagon. It would also increase taxes on wealthy Americans, which economists believe will further discourage investment and hinder economic growth.”
One America News Network

“This is un-American, this idea. It’s fundamentally against 60 percent of the economy where the companies I fund, the men and woman who create family businesses are vehemently opposed to this regardless of what side of the aisle they’re on. It’s un-American that’s what it is. And I can predict this, not that I want to get into politics, Biden is going to get decimated in the midterms.”
Venture investor Kevin O’Leary

“Frankly, she (Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson) should be disqualified unless she can come back in and explain what a woman is and she can explain whether words like ‘he’ and ‘she’ are acceptable pronouns. I honestly think that this is the core of the cultural war that we are in the middle of between a religiously-secular, anti-Christian, anti-Jewish, anti-Muslim belief system that wants to change all of us and get us to memorize 62 different pronouns so we can be sure to call people what they want to be called. I think she disqualified herself by that one answer because it was an answer, ‘No, I can’t define a woman,’ that is an answer.”
Newt Gingrich

“All of America must take its moral cues from people who fly private jets to events where they receive thousands of bucks in swag while lecturing us about climate change, chant ‘gay’ in unison to oppose bills protecting children, and slap each other on stage.”
Ben Shapiro

“They’re calling this the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ law in Florida with kids. … But that’s not what the law is. What the law does say is that from first grade to third grade, you can’t bring up gender transition, sexual orientation, whether people are gay or straight. They say don’t teach that in class. That’s it. That’s the law — which seems reasonable. You don’t want an unknown person who’s a teacher, a stranger, talking to your child who’s six about sexual transitioning and gender transitioning and sexual orientation and gay people and bisexual people and non-binary people. … That’s not your job. That’s a delicate issue to be handled by parents and loved ones.”
