Culinary no-no began on Father’s Day 2007, a beautiful summer day, when I wrote about grilling brats. And eating brats. And topping those brats. I was inspired by my wife, Jennifer who, in my admittedly unscientific opinion, ruins brats by squirting ketchup on them. Other dining taboos quickly came to mind. The original idea was to take this concept only a few months, till the end of summer and then pull the plug. Then the unexpected happened. People started reading Culinary no-no. Lots of folks. So we keep doing the no-no.
On this week’s food blog, food politics.
First some background. Just a few weeks ago we discussed the Odd Duck restaurant in Milwaukee and their outrageous stipulation just to get in the door. Check it out.
Now for an update, right from my backyard in Franklin, WI.
My tiny city has schools that aren’t bad. However the administration of our school district is horrendous. Transparency is lacking. Tyrannical COVID hypochondriacs rule with an iron fist.
Recently the district posted on their own website, Facebook, and Instagram for all the world to see:
Last week, our Franklin High School Culinary Capstone Class, “Restaurant and Tourism,” went to Odd Duck, where they had a hands-on cooking demonstration. Odd Duck has been helping the students throughout the year learn more about the culinary industry.”
Photos from the field trip posted on the Franklin Public Schools website.

Fellow Franklin resident and a true freedom fighter, Amna Ozegovic, spotted it, and wasn’t pleased at all.
Sooo…. Amna sent off a note to FPS.
The courteous response to Amna from the school district to the taxpaying parent Amna?
Nada.
Zilch.
Bupkis.
They even deleted another message she sent.
The Franklin field trip to Odd Duck was indoctrination disguised as a learning venture.
Those control freak dim bulbs running Franklin schools appear to be clueless that the Amnas of the world have social media rights.
As a taxpaying parent with a daughter in this school district myself I can only hope that someday these tyrants get theirs.
