VILLAINS OF THE WEEK

China:

Around 10 to 20 miles away from Beijing’s major Olympic venues are over half a dozen torture facilities that hold Falun Gong detainees.

“You could literally watch the speed skating Olympic event, walk out the door from the oval, and walk 14 miles due east and you are at a prison camp where people are being incarcerated—at least one case for nine years—for their faith in Falun Gong,” Levi Browde, executive director of Falun Dafa Information Center, told The Epoch Times.

QUOTES OF THE WEEK

“I would say to our [Olympic] athletes: You are there to compete. Do not risk incurring the anger of the Chinese government because they are ruthless. I know there is a temptation on the part of some to speak out while they are there. I respect that. But I also worry about what the Chinese government might do to their reputations, to their families.”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi

“If she believes US athletes should be silent about China’s genocide because the CCP’s reprisals would endanger the safety of athletes & their families, that’s a very strong case that the US should not be dignifying this disgrace with our presence in any way.”
Guy Benson

“We find no evidence that lockdowns, school closures, border closures, and limiting gatherings have had a noticeable effect on COVID-19 mortality. They have contributed to reducing economic activity, raising unemployment, reducing schooling, causing political unrest, contributing to domestic violence, and undermining liberal democracy. [Given these] enormous economic and social costs, a standard benefit-cost calculation leads to a strong conclusion: lockdowns should be rejected out of hand as a pandemic policy instrument.”
Researchers at Johns Hopkins University

“If students are not performing well in a particular school, let’s provide them with an alternative. For me, public school worked just fine. For my son, he attended private school and ended up switching to a public school to take a particular class. For others, the best option might be homeschooling, charter schools, magnet schools or a different public school. School choice is the civil rights issue of our day. … If we recognize that every child is unique, we cannot continue the failed one-size-fits-all approach to education. Parents — not the government — know best how to address their kids’ educational needs. We should empower them to do it.”
Georgia U.S. Senate candidate Herschel Walker

“In 2003, President George W. Bush nominated Janice Rogers Brown to serve on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, which is widely considered the nation’s second most important court and a training ground for future Supreme Court justices. At the time, Brown was a justice on the California Supreme Court. She was known for her conservative judicial opinions against affirmation action and in favor of parental consent for abortion. But rather than embrace Brown’s appointment to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, Democrats were united in opposition. Democrats, including then-Senators Joe Biden and Barack Obama, repeatedly filibustered Brown’s confirmation. Yes — filibustered! The procedure that Biden today calls a relic of the Jim Crow era was used by Biden to destroy a black female nominee.”
Gary Bauer

“Biden chose Harris as his VP because of the color of her skin and sex — not qualification. She’s been a disaster. Now he promises to choose Supreme Court nominee on the same criteria.  Identity politics is destroying our country.”
Tulsi Gabbard

“Until 1981, this powerful body, the Supreme Court, was all white men.”
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer

“Let it be known that a Chuck Schumer staffer wrote a speech for him without knowing that Thurgood Marshall had been a Supreme Court Justice in the 14 years prior to 1981.”
Greg Price

“The Holocaust isn’t about race. No. It’s not about race.”
“The View’s” Whoopi Goldberg

“You know, I have a couple of pretty simple rules in life. Don’t ever compare anything to slavery, don’t ever compare anything to the Holocaust, and if you’re a man, don’t compare anything to pregnancy. That’s rule number one. Rule number two: If you’re going to apologize, then just apologize. Don’t explain it. Don’t try to mitigate it. Apologize and ask for forgiveness. And number three: As a culture, we have got to do a better job of figuring out who is just famous and who actually knows what he or she is talking about, ‘cause sometimes we confuse the two.”
Trey Gowdy

“I’m not sure the specifics of what you’re referring to.”
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki feigning ignorance when questioned about the now well-documented cases of plane loads of illegal immigrants being flown in the middle of the night to undisclosed locations

“Wokers believe that no one should have to accept responsibility. They believe that it’s always someone else’s fault. And their motto is, ‘Hear no evil, see no evil, prosecute no evil.’ … Some of the wokers started the ‘defund and disrespect the police’ movement. They tolerated it. President Biden allowed it to happen. And you see the result. … What you allow is what will continue. And as long as we allow this, the criminals are not going to be unhappy with this. And they are going to keep committing crimes.”
Senator John Kennedy

“Imagine that an adult male wants to have sex with a 12-year-old girl. Imagine that she’s a willing participant. [It’s] a very standard, very widely held view that there’s something deeply wrong about this, and it’s wrong independent of it being criminalized. It’s not obvious to me that is in fact wrong. I think this is a mistake. The notion that it’s wrong even with a one-year-old is not quite obvious to me. … No, I don’t think there’s a blanket period beyond which this is permissible if we’re interested in willing participation. … I don’t think it’s blanket wrong at any age.”
State University of New York at Fredonia professor Stephen Kershnar

“When hearing about such an outrageous situation, it can be easy to believe that it is an isolated experience, that such insane notions couldn’t possibly have taken root elsewhere. Unfortunately, this would be a misconception. … Let’s be abundantly clear: this is not a complicated issue. In fact, there can be no simpler issue. Pedophilia is evil. That’s it. We shouldn’t accept the notion that pro-pedophilia sentiments are valid ideas to be contended with in the marketplace of ideas by the use of rhetorical flourish or superior philosophizing. Illiberalism is no crime when your opponent uses bad-faith arguments to justify moral atrocities that target the most vulnerable among us, victimizing them in ways they can’t even comprehend.”
Spencer Lindquist

“The radicals are not the people who demand normalcy. The radicals are the people who oppose normalcy. Do not forget this in the days ahead.”
Buck Sexton

“CNN is a hive of womanizing, pedophilia, lying, corruption, masturbating weirdos. The whole place should be flushed down the toilet. Also, I don’t believe Zuck is being booted for his sexual ways. That’s normal CNN behavior. What did he actually do that’s even more evil?”
Melissa Mackenzie

“There’s a disconnect between the Biden Administration that wants open borders and the border rank and file officers who signed up to control the border and prevent illegal aliens from coming in. They have – the Biden Administration has turned the border officers into travel agents. They have basically now accommodated criminals, illegal aliens to designate them to any place in this country. They have flipped it around. The Border Patrol agents are frustrated; they don’t want to be travel agents. They want to keep illegal aliens out of this country and they’re being denied by the Biden Administration and the progressive left.”
Commentator Leo Terrell, African-American Democrat

“It’s true that a lot of Democrats — to include Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and others — do seem to care more about Ukraine’s border than our southern border at a time when we’ve had two million illegal immigrants cross our border under Joe Biden’s tenure in office. I mean, that’s like adding the entire population of Nebraska to this country.”
Senator Tom Cotton

“If truckers quit their jobs, society would immediately collapse. If politicians quit their jobs, the world would become a better place. We need truckers more than anybody else. Honk Honk.”
Greg Price

“You couldn’t buy a cannon when [the Second Amendment] was passed.”
Joe Biden

“Not only was it legal then, it’s legal now.”
Mollie Hemingway

“Biden is historically illiterate. Washington sourced privately-owned cannons for the War of Independence. Even the pilgrims brought their own civilian-owned cannons with them on the Mayflower.”
Dana Loesch

“It’s not me who’s changed, it’s the left, who is now made up of a small contingent who’ve gone mental and a large contingent who refuse to call them out for it. But I will. That’s why I’m a hero at Fox these days. Which shows just how much liberals have their head up their a**, because if they really thought about it, they would have made me a hero on their media.”
Bill Maher
