Today’s highly interesting read (06/01/21): Joe Biden is Sick

Before we get to today’s read let’s turn back the clock to January of 2018:

It was the talk of the liberal media when the book came out.

“There is no way for me to know for sure, but all indications lead me to believe that Donald Trump struggles to fit into the frame of what we call normal behavior, and he often fails at it in spectacular ways.

“This is the problem we face: We have a person occupying the presidency who is impetuous, fragile, hostile, irrational, intentionally uninformed, information-averse and semiliterate.”
Charles Blow, NY Times

“Trump’s aides knew he was stupid. Trump’s aides also knew, well before he was elected, that he was insecure, petulant, and sleazy.”
William Saletan, Slate

“Indeed, at no other time in US history has a group of mental health professionals been so collectively concerned about a sitting president’s dangerousness. This is not because he is an unusual person – many of his symptoms are very common – but it is highly unusual to find a person with such signs of danger in the office of presidency.”
The Guardian

“Wolff’s reporting establishes that Trump’s decline is very much interfering with his daily functioning — and thus, that his cognitive impairment is likely progressing toward dementia.”
New Yorker Magazine

You don’t see or hear the same tone in the media today. Fast forward to the present.

May be an image of 1 person and text that says 'I'm not supposed to answer questions. Why do they keep asking questions? Has anyone seen my sippy cup?'

Thomas C. Reeves is a retired UW-System professor living in southeast Wisconsin. Among his dozen books are Twentieth Century America: A Brief History, and biographies of John F. Kennedy, Joseph R. McCarthy, Fulton Sheen, Walter J. Kohler, Jr and Chester A. Arthur. I am proud to call Tom Reeves my friend.

On his Facebook page Reeves just wrote, “Yes, Biden’s declining mental ability is becoming increasingly embarrassing. But the powers that be knew of his condition when they promoted him a few months ago. That’s why they hid him in his basement. And if Biden’s deterioration warrants removal via the 25th Amendment, who on earth wants a President Kamala? The leftist elites have done a number on all of us.”

My friend is correct.

Today’s read is from blogger, columnist, and radio host Jeff Crouere. Back in March he wrote, “President Joe Biden is a shadow of his former self. Long gone is the aggressive, pugnacious, and partisan Democrat who mistreated Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas in his confirmation hearings. Today, Americans see a President who is clearly mentally diminished and is getting worse on a daily basis.”

His latest publication picks up on that theme. Here’s an excerpt:

As Biden loses more of his mental competence, Americans can expect more of these inappropriate episodes to continue. How many more of these will occur before those close to him decide to intervene?

Let us hope those who can encourage either a resignation or can invoke the 25thamendment decide to act for the sake of the country. How much longer will Americans have to endure this unacceptable risk?
