C’mon Franklin: Can’t we all just get along?

No photo description available.

Fellow Franklin citizens I have breaking news for you. As of today the city of Franklin is no longer confronting any serious major issues.

That’s right. Franklin is damn near perfect.

Since that is the case, it allows the Franklin Common Council to spend (waste) an inordinate about of time trying to come up with dozens of ways city elected officials could get along with one another and behave better.

There’s a major push to revise the city’s Code of Conduct. The Common Council’s Committee of the Whole took it up a few weeks ago and they’ll be back at it Monday night when they meet.

This entire ridiculous exercise is designed to weaken the power of Mayor Steve Olson and increase the leverage of the Common Council.

Take one guess as to which Common Council member is spearheading this effort, the one most vociferous.

Good for you!

You’re correct!

That would be whiny Franklin Alderwoman Kristen Wilhelm.

Yep.

Kristen (why doesn’t everyone absolutely adore me?) Wilhelm.

Kristen (how dare you, Mayor Olson, interrupt me!) Wilhelm.

Kristen (I want to yap and yap and yap and yap all night long) Wilhelm.

Kristen (no one is better for the city than me) Wilhelm.

If you check the agenda for the Committee of the Whole meeting Monday night you’ll see a ton of SUGGESTIONS noted. Those were made by aldermen/women. None of the aldermen/women are identified so I can only assume that because Wilhelm has been by far the most outspoken Council member on this incredibly urgent matter that she’s behind most of it. This is all designed to soothe Wilhelm’s bruised ego.  In some cases CITY STAFF has formally reacted to the suggestions.

There are so many  SUGGESTIONS  but I want to highlight just a couple to demonstrate what an absolute farce this is, not surprisingly coming from one of the worst, if not the worst Council members. You be the judge if this is a wise use of our elected representatives’’ time.

SUGGESTION:  After ‘If a Council Member Is personally offended by the remarks of another Council Member, the offended Member should voice the concern and afford the other Member the opportunity to either  explain the comment or apologize.  If that is not successful, the offended Member should call for a ‘point of personal privilege.’

STAFF: Make suggested change.SUGGESTION: Council Members shall avoid expressing opinions or bias regarding City business or issues that may come before the Council.

SUGGESTION: ‘Respect for each other, constituents, and those appearing needs /allow phones to be off or on silent mode as not to disturb or before the Council is paramount and full attention to the matters before distract from the meeting. Allow phones to be off or on silent mode as not to disturb or before the Council is paramount and full attention to the matters before distract from the meeting.

STAFF: Suggest ‘Respect for each other, constituents, and those appearing needs /allow phones to be off or on silent mode as not to disturb or before the Council is paramount and full attention to the matters before distract from the meeting the body is the purpose of the Council Meeting. The use of electronic devices to communicate regarding City business during meetings is prohibited since it presents an opportunity for violation of open meetings and open records laws; and, all other uses of electronic devices are strongly discouraged and should be reserved only for emergency situations.’

If you really want to make your brain bleed here’s the entire agenda and meeting packet for Monday.

What’s next for Wilhelm?

You will address me as Your Highness?

I am the Queen Bee and should be duly noted?

I will speak and won’t stop until I’m damn good and ready?

Meanwhile, debate on obscene taxing and spending?

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

  1. Well, you beat me to the focus on “obscene taxes” being a priority. Or, is “obscene” too hurtful of a description for taxes and we should just call them “disproportionate to reality?”
