Apparently the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (and other local media outlets) didn’t feel this event over the weekend was worthy of news coverage.
On Saturday in New Berlin a “Backing the Badge & Building Bridges” event was held, sponsored by No Better Friend, Corp., a non-profit founded by former Republican Senate candidate Kevin Nicholson. Similar town halls are scheduled as noted above.
No Better Friend says, “Over the past few years law enforcement professionals across our state and nation have faced relentless scrutiny, criticisms and challenges. We at No Better Friend think it’s time we give our law enforcement members a platform to openly talk about the challenges that they face on an ongoing basis – and map out a path forward that keeps our communities safe and puts law enforcement professionals in the best position to succeed.”
Wisconsin Right Now reports Saturday’s event featured several speakers who defended law enforcement, an unfairly vilified profession. One of the speakers was former Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales who told the crowd there is a “constant agenda that law enforcement is racist. It’s not.” This false narrative is making it harder to recruit people of color into law enforcement, he said.
