“It’s for the children” – BS

Generally speaking, a decades-long rationalization (excuse?) by educators when explaining a particular idea, policy, curriculum, or decision is that, and we’ve heard it a million times, is that “It’s for the children.”

Except when it’s not.  Except when the message is phony. Not for all, but for far too many. The children do not come first.

Here’s a blatant case in point. A lot of teachers are perfectly content to work from home, never get out of their jammies, and enjoy the comforts of their living room. To them, virtual is where it’s at. Zero contact is where they prefer to be.

Newstalk 1130 WISN’s Mark Belling recently reported on a situation that is anything but “for the children.”
