I met Lou Brock

On November 29, 2019, our family was in Louisville as Kyla competed in the 2019 Mid-America Oireachtas, an Irish dance event.

Naturally we paid a visit here.

On the way out of the tour there are some baseball heroes pictured. When I was in public radio I got to meet and interview Lou Brock (classy guy) before his record for most stolen bases in a season was eventually broken by Rickey Henderson against the Brewers at Milwaukee County Stadium in August of 1982. I covered that game for National Public Radio, and it was barely above 40 degrees that night.

Brock’s quote above is “If you didn’t have a Louisville Slugger in your hands, you weren’t playing baseball.”

I was very sad this week to hear of Brock’s passing.
