I often blog about Elvis, my all-time favorite.
Country rock star Charlie Daniels died this month at the age of 83 has a tie-in with the King. He co-wrote “It Hurts Me” that was the B-side for “Kissin’ Cousins,” the title song from an Elvis movie in 1964 (“It Hurts Me” was not in the movie).
According to the song’s credits, “It Hurts Me” was written by Charles E. Daniels and Joy Byers. But it was actually Byers’ husband, the songwriter and producer Bob Johnston, who co-wrote the song.
Elvis also sang the song in his famous ’68 Comeback Special.
Charlie and Elvis never met, thought he did meet Lisa Marie.
Charlie Daniels will be featured in our Friday Night Forgotten Oldie blog this week.
