The Barking Lot is a regular weekly feature of This Just In…Written by my lovely wife, Jennifer and me. It opens with the weekend dog walking forecast followed by the main blog from dog lover, Jennifer. Then it’s DOGS IN THE NEWS and our close. Enjoy!
THE WEEKEND DOG-WALKING FORECAST: We grade the weather outlook for taking your pet outdoors.

Now, here’s my lovely wife, Jennifer, with this week’s main blog.
Well, no she’s not.
The entire Fischer family was knocked on its ear this week with a nasty bug. As a result some blogs that require more work than others (like this one) got a bit less. But we’re devoted to our regular stuff, so here goes.
Bring in the fill-in. That would be the great dog lover…me, ever so briefly as I skillfully then hand it over to a skillfully written guest feature.
OK all you dog owners. What word am I thinking of?
Fill in the blank.
Your dog is your…?
Animal.
True. True. But not what we’re looking for. Go ahead. Try again.
Your dog is your…?
Friend. Best friend!
In another blog, maybe. You get one more, guess #3.
Your dog is your…?
Pet.
DING DING DING
A perfect answer!
But…not… according to…okay. Where is this headed?
One of Jennifer’s favorite resources is Stanley Coren, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia, known for his popular books on dogs and psychological issues. If he’s good enough for Jennifer then he’s enough for me.
You’re not going to believe this. Go ahead and read what Coren has to offer.
Told you that you wouldn’t believe it. Thank you, Dr. Coren! And get well, Jennifer!
