Now, here’s my lovely wife, Jennifer, with this week’s main blog.
It’s St. Valentine’s Weekend. But THE DAY was yesterday. That could mean any number of things, including but not limited to…
- You had to postpone your special plans because of schedule conflicts
- You got a puppy as a gift
- You gained five pounds overnight because of a Haagen-Dazs binge
- You got engaged
- You DIDN’T get engaged
- You’re in the doghouse
You knew there’d be a dog reference or two, didn’t you?
Did you get your dog a card and/or gift? Did your dog get you one? If your dog DIDN’T get you one, does that mean he/she doesn’t love you? Yes, I realize I could be opening more than one can of worms to our readers and I haven’t even started the gist of my blog yet!
There are two distinct camps when it comes to believing if dogs can love humans the way humans love dogs. Loyal readers know I am crazy for scientific research on canine behavior. Dr. Stanley Coren is a favorite source, and has been cited many times in The Barking Lot. So it’s no surprise that I’d turn to his insight into doggy/human affection.
Since I don’t have direct contact with him, I was grateful that Reader’s Digest asked that pressing question for me: Does my dog love me? Naturally he had quite a lot to say.
Well, dear readers, I don’t know where this weekend leaves you romantically. I do know that if you’re here, you at least love dogs. Thanks for checking in!
