Back when George W. Bush was president (that’s long before Trump mind you), I was with some colleagues when one of them, a known and unabashed liberal, mentioned how he “hated Bush.”
I knew my friend was far left, but I was still somewhat taken aback.
“C’mon,” I responded. “You don’t hate anybody” was my attempt to ease the tension.
“Yes I do,” he immediately shot back. “I hate him.”

“They’re never going to stop. It’s not just because they don’t like the president. They don’t like us. They don’t like the 63 million people who voted for this president, all of us in flyover country, us common folk in Ohio, Wisconsin, Tennessee, and Texas, they don’t like us,” he explained. “…They don’t like the president. They don’t like the president’s supporters and they dislike us so much they’re willing to weaponize the government.”
