Franklin adopts 2020 budget

For years I’ve ripped the locals here in Franklin that have tax and spending authority. Since 1992 when I moved here these folks have built a reputation of taxing and spending too, too much. Everyone I talk to realizes it. But the taxers and spenders are in complete denial.

Having said that, credit must be given where credit is due. Mayor Steve Olson proposed a budget with a property tax levy increase of 1.57%. The Franklin Common Council adopted a budget with a levy increase of 1.65%, slightly less than the most current rate of inflation of 1.8%. More details will be in the December city of Franklin newsletter. So nice job by the city.

Property tax bills will be mailed the week of December 9.
