The update: The bill calling for a referendum was just introduced Tuesday.
Here are the details on Assembly Bill 521.
The point is municipalities like the city of Milwaukee would be able to use part of the revenue to pay for operational expenses, i.e. police. Why should non-Milwaukee municipalities bail out Barrett?
My mayor, Franklin’s Steve Olson doesn’t necessarily support a sales tax increase. But he in wimpy fashion favors putting a referendum on the ballot.
Wrong. The strong and correct response is to oppose a referendum, period. But then he couldn’t pose for holy pictures with Barrett and all the other local pols in charge, could he?
