The Barking Lot is a regular weekly feature of This Just In…Written by my lovely wife, Jennifer and me. It opens with the weekend dog walking forecast followed by the main blog from dog lover, Jennifer. Then it’s DOGS IN THE NEWS and our close. Enjoy!

Now, here’s my lovely wife, Jennifer with this week’s main blog.
I’ve been a mom for ten years. My favorite saying is “The days are long, but the years are short.” Anyone who has a child can 110% relate. There’s nothing like it in the world and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. But some days…
In my blog about Dog Mom’s Day last year, I gave a shout-out to all the dog moms I know. Once again this year, I would like to commend all the “moms” who clean up chewed household items, buy food that costs as much as (if not more) than their humans eat, spend more at a vet than they do at the spa, buy bite-proof babies & beds and worry just as much about their four-legged buddies as they do anyone else at their address.
Today we celebrate what is now annual National Dog Mom’s Day. While written last week this brief article gives a nod to all the reasons why we should. Interested in how many women pride themselves on being dog moms and all that it means? Read some of the poll results posted here.
Once again, Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there. Enjoy your special time!

HERE’S OUR DOG PHOTO(s) OF THE WEEK.
A disabled student studying abroad has finally gotten back to Dublin after being stranded in Lisbon, Portugal for two days because she says airlines wouldn’t accommodate her service dog, Moose. That’s Vermont native Jacquie Kelley, 21, who
described her experience as “the hardest day” of her study abroad trip, which she began in mid-January, adding she has “never cried so many tears in one day.” Kelley landed in Dublin last Saturday. She supplied the above photo.
We close as we always do with our closing video.

AND…Pet ownership in this country has exploded in the last 50 years and with it comes changes in the way we treat our four legged best friends. Jim Axelrod of CBS finds out in this 2011 report if there’s a scientific reason why our pets are now considered “part of the family.” Pay close attention and you’ll figure out why we’re re-posting this piece from eight years ago this weekend.
That’s it for this week.
Thanks for stopping by.
We’d really appreciate it if you forward this on to other dog lovers you know. Let them have some fun!
See ya, BARK, next Saturday!
