Game 6 of the National League Champions Series (NLCS) against the Los Angeles Dodgers is set for Friday night in Milwaukee with a possible Game 7 Saturday.
Milwaukee Brewer Christian Yelich called Dodger Manny Machado a dirty player.
Brewer fans also won’t forget Machado’s remarks about playing hard.
“I’m not the type of player that’s going to be ‘Johnny Hustle,’ and run down the line and slide to first base and … you know, whatever can happen. That’s just not my personality, that’s not my cup of tea, that’s not who I am.”
I wonder how Pete Rose would react?
From a 1980 NLCS game, Phillies and Astros. Greg “The Bull” Luzinski is at bat for Philadelphia.
Pete Rose quotes from the past:
“People say I don’t have great tools. They say that I can’t throw like Ellis Valentine or run like Tim Raines or hit with power like Mike Schmidt. Who can? I make up for it in other ways, by putting out a little bit more. That’s my theory, to go through life hustling. In the big leagues, hustle usually means being in the right place at the right time. It means backing up a base. It means backing up your teammate. It means taking that headfirst slide. It means doing everything you can do to win a baseball game.”
“I’d walk through hell in a gasoline suit to play baseball.”
