Today, February 7, is the 32nd anniversary of the annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD), a national observance celebrating the extraordinary achievements of women and girls in sports and the positive influence athletic participation brings to their lives.
For more than three decades, NGWSD has empowered women and girls to get moving, embrace physical activity and push past their limits. The courage, confidence and character gained through sports participation are the very tools girls need to become the strong leaders of tomorrow.
The Milwaukee School of Engineering celebrates NGWSD every year. This year’s event was held a few weeks ago.
My wife, Jennifer and Kyla couldn’t make it but did attend last year at the fabulous MSOE Kern Center.
Let’s check in to see if Kyla who was 7 had any fun.
Here’s Kyla with last year’s MSOE Women’s Basketball superstar Holly Denfeld (left) and the leading scorer of this year’s team, Shaylan Reardon (right).
Take your position, Kyla.
Some one-on-one attention.
One of this year’s players, Rachel Ruona side-by-side with Kyla.
Let’s change sports.
The award-winning MSOE Dance Team also joined in the fun.
What a great day!
