According to the Associated Press, Wisconsin Senate Republican Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald said at a meeting today of the Wisconsin Counties Association he expects “chaos” as the state Legislature rushes to complete its business over the next several weeks.

Both Fitzgerald and Assembly Speaker Robin Vos say a measure to remove the so-called “dark stores” loophole to force mega-retailers like Menards to pay more in local property taxes will not be approved.

That’s a setback for leaders of many municipalities including Franklin mayor Steve Olson who spent much time and effort lobbying for passage of the bill.
