Culinary no-no began on Father’s Day 2007, a beautiful summer day, when I wrote about grilling brats. And eating brats. And topping those brats. I was inspired by my wife, Jennifer who, in my admittedly unscientific opinion, ruins brats by squirting ketchup on them. Other dining taboos quickly came to mind. The original idea was to take this concept only a few months, till the end of summer and then pull the plug. Then the unexpected happened. People started reading Culinary no-no. Lots of folks. So we keep doing the no-no.
We’ve been to Orlando many times but have never visited this place…
ICEBAR Orlando, a below-freezing room with a bar built from ice & an adjacent lounge with dancing for warming up.
Let’s go to the video.
Not to mention, OUCH!
Do those leggy women in heels not realize they’re sitting on ice?
For me, jack up the temperature about 63 degrees more.
Plant me at the Grand Wailea in Maui, Hawaii. The resort has nine pools on six levels.
They have an ever-so delightful and comfortable hideaway, the Grotto Bar, that’s tucked in a waterfall-laced cave.
A swim-up bar in a tropical setting.
Since I can’t get to Maui anytime soon, this would be much more convenient.
A Tom and Jerry is about as wintry as I’ll get.
Now, didn’t we just have a major freezing streak that almost lasted two weeks?
The above photo was taken in Milwaukee on January 7, 2018, just as the cold snap was ending.
On the heels of that freezapalooza some locations in Milwaukee’s Third Ward this Friday will host icebars of their own.
Not exactly my hot cup of tea.
Honestly, this doesn’t rank high on my all-time no-no list. The hosts are popular establishments, so I’m sure the events will go over well.
And the icebars will raise money for charities. Very nice. I wish them well and the patrons a frostbite-free experience.
As for me, I’m not sure exactly where I’ll be this Friday night. But the place will be indoors, and heated.
CULINARY NO-NO BONUS
Hey, everybody, let’s watch a movie. How about some…cauliflower?
