It’s the end of the world as we know it (11/14/17)

I recall my good friend and former colleague at WTMJ Charlie Sykes for a time ended his daily talk show with these lyrics.

It’s the end of the world as we know it.
It’s the end of the world as we know it.

Yes, there are constant, ever-changing news developments that boggle the mind, that send my head to shaking. For me personally, some of them have hit the boiling point.

My goodness, where do we begin.

An Alabama woman accused Roy S. Moore this week of sexually assaulting her when she was 16. More sharks in the surfaced in the water than Jaws 1, 2, 3, and 4 multiplied by 100.

Even a member of the Library Board  in Cudahy was rumored to have called for Moore to step aside, in addition to all those non-Alabama officials (including Wisconsin). Accused? In America, you are guilty, guilty, guilty.

Now if Moore was a scumbag. he needs to be buried.

But where is Mitch McConnell, who died a year or so ago but nobody told him, and other self-righteous Republicans on Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.)

Menendez is the subject of a corruption trial. Unlike Moore. Menendez has actually been charged.

Prosecutors claim that Menendez was part of a bribery scheme with Florida ophthalmologist Dr. Salomon Melgen, claiming Melgen gave donations and gifts to the senator in exchange for political favors.

Prosecutors also say that Menendez helped get visas for Melgen’s foreign girlfriends and helped to protect a port security contract in the Dominican Republic for him. They also say Menendez intervened in a dispute between Melgen and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Menendez received trips on private jets, stays in luxury hotels and campaign donations from Melgen in exchange for the political favors, according to prosecutors.

While Democrats oh so willing to cover up for Menendez circle the wagons, Republicans who should be on attack instead go into fear mode prompted by media reports and lay off Menendez but toss Moore into the volcano.

That’s not for them to say, especially since only two people know what, if anything, happened.

This is for the Alabama voters to decide, not elected officials from other states and talking heads on liberal TV and radio.

Closer to home kids under 10 can now hunt, with guns in their hands, legally in Wisconsin.

I love the 2nd amendment. I know gun owners are extremely responsible.

But let’s get real.

The first time an unfortunate incident occurs, all hell will break loose.

I’m just slightly opposed to this idea just signed into law. Not so with this next item.

My state Senator is proudly wearing on his sleeve his authored legislation that thank God hasn’t passed yet to allow anyone in Wisconsin to carry a concealed weapon without the necessary training and a permit.

Seriously, have we lost our marbles?

Defending our Constitutional gun rights is one thing. Going over the board wacko is another.

Especially when so many have stated on the record our current conceal carry law so many fought long and hard for…is working and is just fine.

I could go on and on.

Maybe I’ll make this a somewhat regular feature.
