Today’s read comes from Susan Stamper Brown, a military family advocate who is rightfully angered by the slap on the wrist given to Bowe Bergdahl.
He was given a dishonorable discharge and he was demoted from sergeant to private in a court decision earlier this month but spared prison.
Brown wrote her column before news that he U.S. Army is set to decide whether Bergdahl is entitled to as much as $300,000 in back pay and other benefits he amassed during his captivity with the Taliban.
Americans are outraged over the Bowe Bergdahl sentencing on November 3 that should have led to serious prison time, or worse. But, face it, we now live in a country where deserters who cause fellow soldiers to be maimed or killed are treated as heroes if weak leftists are in charge.
The only difference between Bergdahl and the guy who used a Home Depot truck to mow down and kill people in New York recently is that Bergdahl displayed his allegiance to the enemy on foreign soil.
