The Barking Lot is a regular weekly feature of This Just In…Written by my lovely wife, Jennifer and me. It opens with the weekend dog walking forecast followed by the main blog from dog lover, Jennifer. Then it’s DOGS IN THE NEWS and our close. Enjoy!
THE WEEKEND DOG-WALKING FORECAST: We grade the weather outlook for taking your pet outdoors.
TODAY: Mostly sunny. High of 85. “A”
SUNDAY: Scattered thunderstorms developing in the afternoon. High of 78. “A”
Now, here’s my lovely wife, Jennifer with this week’s main blog.
If you’re a regular reader of The Barking Lot you know that the Fischers LOVE and I mean LOVE attending the ethnic festivals at our wonderful lakefront. You’ve read about our dog-related adventures at Milwaukee Irish Fest and hopefully we’ve convinced you to attend as well. Yes, the Milwaukee Lakefront is home to incredible festivals like Irish Fest where one of the many activities to enjoy is the Celtic Canine area.
But what if that’s not enough for you?
What if you think our Milwaukee Summer Festival Season is too short?
What if you think that the entire grounds of Henry Maier Festival Park should be packed with pooches?
Whether you want a bier garden/dog park combo, some agility courses, or kids’ activities you are in luck. And for those (yes, I have to say it because some of our best friends are feline fanatics *shudder*) who’d prefer a kitty city we have you covered too.
It’s family friendly AND budget friendly. Free admission, free parking, and you can bring your pets. Really, how can you go wrong?
You don’t OWN a dog, you say? Welcome to MY world. But they’ve got you covered there too! Stop by Adoption Avenue and you just might come home with a new best friend!
Hmmm… maybe that’s why Kevin said we should go to the WI Dells next weekend…
Yes, my dear. As usual you’re are totally correct and that’s why I love you so. The waterparks next weekend as opposed to Pet Fest sound fantastic.

We close as we always do with our closing video. And we have a slew this week.
National Geographic photographer Erin Trieb evacuated her mom and dogs from Hurricane Harvey’s devastating flooding in Houston, Texas, on August 27, 2017. Based in Istanbul, Turkey, Erin was home in Texas when Harvey struck. She documented her journey to rescue her mom, retrieve her cameras, and check in on her sister’s family and home.
