Do not call them ‘Legos’!

The family went to Mayfair Mall today to see the Lego Americana Roadshow.  Folks of all ages had the chance to build their own Jefferson Memorial.

Kyla and Jennifer were there Friday as well.

The display reminded me of a similar one at Southridge Mall back in the mid-80’s that was cool, but nowhere near as large or elaborate as the one at Mayfair.

I did a feature story for WUWM that included clips of an interview I did with a Lego representative on site.

During my questioning I made the mistake of calling the pieces “Legos.”

The gentleman politely but firmly interrupted and corrected me and I’ll never forget.

“They’re not Legos. They’re Lego building blocks.”

I made sure to include that portion of the interview in my final report.

Today the company refers to them in their publications as Lego bricks.
