Senate Judiciary Committee re-refers PP and fetal tissue vendors for DOJ & FBI for investigation

(LifeSiteNews) The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee has re-referred Planned Parenthood and fetal tissue vendors to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI for investigation and possible prosecution, asking the government to respond by May 8.

The Judiciary Committee’s investigation into Planned Parenthood and the fetal tissue companies with which it partners uncovered numerous violations of laws against selling human body parts – and the lack of enforcement of such laws. But neither the FBI nor the DOJ has contacted the Committee about accessing unredacted documents or other findings that would be relevant to pursuing an investigation. The Committee’s findings must be “given proper consideration,” its letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions and FBI Director James Comey said.

HHS Mandate: Pro-life leaders say they expect President Trump to uphold his campaign promise to protect religious liberty despite the recent revelation that the Department of Justice (DOJ) continues to defend the HHS contraception mandate in court. PLW: There is no excuse for the Trump Administration to prolong this clearly unconstitutional attack on religious freedom. The Obama-era holdovers in DOJ need to go and the HHS mandate needs to go, and NOW!

FALLACIES: If abortion is about aborting something that isn’t fully human, then why should it be rare? And if it is about aborting something that is human then why exactly should it be legal? PLW: The base argument of the pro-abortion crowd is that abortion is a “necessary evil.” Why is it evil? Because they know it’s killing a human.

VENDING CONTRACEPTION: Don’t expect to find filling snacks or thirst quenching drinks inside the newest vending machine at the University of California Davis. Instead, the university is offering a quick fix for that late night or early morning contraceptive need. PLW: For $30, a student can get the Plan B “morning after” pill, without any advice from a doctor or medical staff. This easy access will lead to more women being harmed and more very young preborn children being killed.

MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY: Dena Davis, a bioethicist at Lehigh University, also questioned whether keeping a baby alive with potential medical problems was worth it, considering almost 90 percent of premature babies that survive suffer with medical issues. Davis implied it wasn’t worth saving the child, assuming many parents would agree with her. PLW: Medical advances are helping premature babies – earlier and earlier – and it’s “complicating abortion politics,” this bioethicist said. To us, medical advancements just make clear what we already know: preborn children are human beings.

TRAFFICKING IN EAGLES: Those facing federal indictment for illegally trafficking body parts, weren’t selling pieces of aborted babies. They were selling body parts of eagles. For profit. PLW: While Planned Parenthood leaders aren’t held responsible for selling HUMAN body parts, the federal government is charging people who’ve sold eagle parts.

MICHIGAN: Michigan drivers could get a “Choose Life” license plate that would benefit anti-abortion groups under a bill passed largely along party lines today in the Senate. PLW: The license plate still needs approval from the Michigan state House, but it looks good for another Midwestern state having Choose Life plates. Wisconsin plates were approved last fall and should be available this year.

DEMOCRATS: DNC Chairman Tom Perez’s brazen rejection of pro-life Democrats has now been condemned by some of his party’s most powerful voices. In recent days, both House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Sen. Bernie Sanders, D-Vt., rebuffed Perez’s suggestion that Democrats must uniformly support abortion rights. PLW: It’s clear that the Democratic Party has a lot to figure out before they build a platform that will appeal to more voters, especially those of us in the blue states that turned red in November.
