QUOTES OF THE WEEK

“The United States will no longer wait for Assad to use chemical weapons without any consequences. Those days are over. The United States took a very measured step last night.
We are prepared to do more, but we hope that will not be necessary. ”

The US ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, told a special session of the UN Security Council after the US launched Tomahawk missiles at a regime airbase in Syria

“I leaked nothing to nobody, and I never have and never will.”
Former National Security Adviser Susan Rice, denying that she was involved in unmasking American citizens mentioned in intelligence reports for a political purpose

“I pray that the people of your beautiful city never lose hope, that they work together to become builders of peace, showing future generations the true power of love.”
Pope Francis, in a letter to Catholic parishioners in a crime-infested Chicago neighborhood

“Every time this has been tried before, it has failed. But once again Congress has forced this policy on the IRS, and we expect the results to be the same: collection agents getting paid to harass taxpayers, many of whom need assistance, not threats.”
Tony Reardon, National Treasury Employees Union, on an IRS program to turn IRS debts over to private debt collectors

“Many professors, particularly those on the socialistic side of the political spectrum, use their classrooms to proselytize students.  While professorial proselytization is common and accepted at most universities, I believe that to use one’s classroom to push one’s personal beliefs is both immoral and academic dishonesty. It is a cowardly act to take advantage of student immaturity by indoctrinating them with the professor’s opinions before the student has developed the maturity and skill to examine other opinions.”
Columnist Walter E. Williams received the prestigious Bradley Prize from the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation Thursday night in the nation’s capital, recognizing his lifetime of championing conservative ideals. He has been a teacher for half a century, teaching at George Mason University for 36 of those years. In his acceptance speech Williams credited his teachers for treating him like an adult and “not giving a damn about his self esteem.” He contrasted his academic experience with the snowflakes of today, noting that too many teachers and employers “care more about people’s feelings rather than their performance.”

“Tony Romo, w ZERO broadcast experience, reportedly replacing Phil Simms on CBS’ #1 NFL game crew. No offense. But that’s total crap.”
Former CBS sideline reporter Bonnie Bernstein, in a tweet

“It’s sweet of you, Dave — I know your busy schedule of going to the bank and trying to figure out what the hell you do.”
Don Rickles to David Letterman at a roast

“Marty … somebody get a phone book so he can see me.”
Don Rickles to Martin Scorsese (who is 5′ 4″)
