The Barking Lot – America’s Finest Dog Blog (03/11/17)

The Barking Lot is a regular weekly feature of This Just In…Written by my lovely wife, Jennifer and me.  It opens with the weekend dog walking forecast followed by the main blog from dog lover, Jennifer. Then it’s DOGS IN THE NEWS and our close. Enjoy!

THE WEEKEND DOG-WALKING FORECAST: We grade the weather outlook for taking your pet outdoors.

TODAY: Sunny. High of 29. “F”

SUNDAY:  Partly cloudy. High of 33. “F”

Here’s my lovely wife, Jennifer with this week’s main blog.

It’s cool to be Irish!  Everyone wants to be Irish!  Don’t believe me?  Ask anyone, anywhere around the world…

Taking Kyla to Ireland is a dream we will turn in to reality as soon as she can handle an eight-hour trans-Atlantic flight.  Given her current “limit” of a non-stop flight to Orlando I don’t see that happening for a few years.  In the meantime she can celebrate her own Irish heritage in other ways…

Since 2013, our little lass has participated in the Cashel Dennehy Summer Sampler dance program.  Since September 2016, she is now an official, year-round student.  While we have always loved attending the Milwaukee St. Patrick’s Day parade, 2017’s will be EXTRA special to our family.  This is the first year that Kyla will be marching with her dance school instead of telling us repeatedly, “I want to be a ‘real’ Irish girl!”

We proudly wear Claddagh jewelry all year, not just during the month of March.  And of course, we attend the world’s largest Irish cultural festival, Milwaukee Irish Fest, every year right here in our own back yard!  There are so many things to love about Milwaukee Irish Fest that it’s impossible to name them all.  Of course the main events for our family are the variety of food, the dancing, the music and… well, this IS The Barking Lot. Do you think I’d forget to mention the Celtic Canine area?

Today we’ll be loudly cheering for our daughter.  But I’ll also put my paws – er, hands – together for the pups on parade.  I know we’ll see some furry friends walking along and hopefully we’ll see some of my favorite breed, the Soft Coated Wheaton Terriers.  After all, 158 days is a LONG way away!

While Ireland may not be the country of origin for the MOST breeds, I personally feel they have given us some of the best.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all our four-legged friends, and the humans that love them!

Thanks, Jennifer!
