Way back in 1971 an eventual superstar recorded her very first album and her very first hit single. They were gigantic hits for a lovely young lady from Australia.
Here she is on an Australian TV show.
Let’s have some fun!
Who wrote “If Not For You?”
Let’s give you some time, and don’t cheat by looking ahead.
While you ponder, the same songwriter penned this number later covered by Blood, Sweat and Tears. It was circa mid-1970’s during a short time when the jazz-rock group was without its famous lead singer David Clayton-Thomas.
Blues singer Jerry Fisher took over, albeit briefly, and sang a song by the same person who wrote “If Not For You.”
Not exactly a forgotten oldie, but it was a good album track. Several of the band players seen here performed in the “Blues Brothers” movie.
OK. Have you figured it out.
Who wrote the following?
“If Not For You.”
“Down in the Flood.”
The answer is…
Bob Dylan, who turned 75 this past Tuesday.
