So Kev, tell me once again…how does a referendum become a referendum?

I’m so glad you asked.  Because the question can’t be answered too often.

Just for fun, how about a quiz. Do you know the correct answer?  Let’s play multiple choice.

A) The school district exaggerates a need and attempts to sell a sob story to the electorate.

B) The school district claims that due to revenue restraints imposed by the state of WI that they have no choice but to seek help via referendum.

C) Any referendum question is always preceded in the sob story that it’s for the children.

D) Surveys are sent to residents to determine if there’s support for a referendum. SPOILER ALERT: The announcement after surveys are all in is always that there is support.

E) The school district hasn’t had a referendum in a while, so why not now?

F) The last referendum was a success.  Let’s try again!

G) The voters are suckers. We can’t lose.

H) Give options. Cheap to not so cheap. That will sound really fair.

I) It’s only this much more per year on your (already out of line exorbitant) taxes.

J) A-I, plus a few more possibilities.

The correct answer is:

J

An oldie but a goodie and worth repeating.
